GET TO KNOW ME
Hi there! I’m Jacki, I am from Southern California but have had quite the adventure. In my mid 20’s I moved to Texas, but am now calling Georgia home. I graduated with a degree in psychology from California Baptist University, but have created a career in full time camp ministry — I gave my life to the Lord at camp, so it’s a place that’s close to my heart and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I got engaged for the first time at 19, married at 21, and divorced at 26 (I’ll be sharing more on that journey soon). In March 2024, I remarried the love of my life, and wow, it’s been amazing to see God’s redemption unfold in our story.
Whats a get to know you page without a fun story?? So here we go: In 2017, I went to a minor league hockey game in Ontario, CA, just because the tickets were cheap and I had never been to a game before. During halftime, they had a contest where you could throw foam pucks onto the ice to try and win prizes. I figured it’d be fun, so I threw a bunch — and somehow, one of mine landed in the bucket where I was entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Toyota Tacoma. I was actually a little disappointed at first because other people were winning things like $100 Chick-fil-A gift cards and season tickets.
A few weeks later i went back to the hockey stadium to participate in the challenge to win a truck. The challenge was to break a t-shirt out of a block of ice, put it on, and be one of the first three to do so to move on to the next round. I was the only girl, and by far the youngest person there. But somehow, I ended up in the top three! Next, we had to shoot pucks into a goal from halfway across the rink. The first guy made one, the second guy made none — and then it was my turn. I made my first shot, missed the second, and somehow got the third one in. The crowd went wild! And just like that, I won a brand-new Toyota.
It might sound wild, but the crazy part is that I had been praying for direction on what to do after my old car had broken down for the 100th time. I’d been praying for an answer, and God surprised me in the most unexpected way. It’s a reminder to me that we don’t always know what’s coming, but if we keep our hands open, God will surprise us in the best ways.
I’m not an expert on anything — just someone sharing what I’ve learned along the way in hopes it might help or encourage you. Thanks for being here — I’m glad you stopped by!
